Ray Morrison has dedicated several years of service to promoting and supporting public education in Saskatoon. He has served on the Board of Education for Saskatoon Public Schools since 2003 and has held the position of board chair since 2006. Saskatoon Public Schools encompasses more than 24,000 students at 58 schools.

He also sits as a Board member of the Saskatchewan Public Schools foundation and READ Saskatoon.

He is passionate about public education and believes strongly in working collaboratively and building strong partnerships to improve student outcomes in Saskatoon.

Prior to his time on the board, he served as a member of his local parent council for 13 years, an executive member of the citizens advisory council to the Saskatoon Public School Division and an executive of the Saskatchewan Association of School Councils. Mr. Morrison was also a founding member of the Citizens for a North East Collegiate. The grassroots parent group successfully lobbied for a new public high school in northeast Saskatoon.

Mr. Morrison’s community service was recognized in 2005 when he was awarded the Saskatchewan Centennial Medal.

He worked for more than 30 years for SaskTel, Saskatchewan’s largest telecommunications company before retiring in 2014.

Ray is first and foremost a husband to Cindy and a father to his two daughters.
