David Amiot is a Senior Manager in the Teaching Excellence and Certification Branch with Alberta Education. He is the Provincial Lead for revising the Teaching Quality Standard Applicable to the Provision of Basic Education in Alberta and is also involved in the important work of developing a new School Leader Standard (SLS) and a School Authority Leader Standard (SALS) for superintendents. David’s prior responsibilities include being the Provincial Coordinator for Reviews by the Education Minister and the Provincial Lead for Special Needs Tribunals.

David’s educational background includes being a former principal of two large high schools, a middle school and an elementary school. Other previous experiences include being a Provincial Achievement Test Examiner as well as a University of Alberta Instructor and Facilitator who supported student teachers during their field experience placements.

On the personal side, David successfully completed the Canadian Death Race in Grande Cache twice as part of a relay team in 2010 & 2011. He enjoys weight and fitness training and is an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. Most of all, David and his wife Mona enjoy every single moment with their four-month-old son, Deklan.
