Over 70% of Gaelcholáistí (second-level Irish medium schools) in Ireland have adopted iPad as the the preferred technology for teaching and learning.  The Máistir Gairmiúil san Oideachas (Professional Masters in Education), is the only designated teacher education programme that prepares teachers for this bilingual setting.  The MGO is a two year, Irish medium, second level, initial teacher education programme in Ireland. Use of an iPad is a course requirement for all student teachers accepting a place on the programme, making it the first initial teacher education programme in Ireland to adopt iPad 1:1. There is a particular emphasis on personalised and localised content creation on the programme. This presentation will outline the affordances of iPad and in particular iBooks, iTunes U courses and digital media for second language accusation in this bilingual context.
