Rethinking Professional Learning: A Systemic Action Research Model

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Rethinking professional learning, Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools has developed an action research model that has significantly shifted resources and processes. This co-constructed professional learning model was developed by a broad-based committee as a result of collaborative exploration of research in the areas of literacy, job-embedded professional learning and the use of action research to improve learning outcomes for all. With a targeted focus of improving literacy outcomes from kindergarten to grade 3, division support was scheduled within schools supporting teachers in their classrooms collaboratively reflecting on student data, providing instruction and reflecting on their impact on student learning. Teachers are engaged throughout the year outside of the classroom in order to collaborate with teachers and explore student literacy learning along a continuum. School administrators are also engaging in action research throughout the year focused on providing literacy leadership and reflecting on their impact on teacher learning using targeted questions and feedback. Please join us for an overview of our experience in developing and deepening our culture of learning.
